The Live Together Intergenerational Community concept is the ‘brain child’ of Jane Rohde, Founder and Principal of JSR Associates, Inc. (JSR). JSR has been the first to invest with development monies to explore the project concept and assemble the team needed to bring the project to fruition. The goal of the interdisciplinary team approach is to develop, design, and construct an intergenerational model that will support a tipping point for person-centered care for at-risk youth and older adults. The setting includes an education training and research program within an assisted living and independent living community setting, co-located with residents living on an existing children’s home campus. JSR will continue to be part of the design and development project management team for the project and plan on their offices being part of the research and education center that is being developed as part of the engagement center.

The developer and care provider partner is being evaluated and selected based upon mission, and the desire to include intergenerational living as part of their mission and goals for the future. The goal of a person-centered care model includes everyone – residents, family, and staff – living with purpose and meaning.

Many areas are critical in the creation of a multi-generational model, as their younger residents (aged 13-21) will have the opportunity to participate in intergenerational activities and programming, training opportunities for career advancement, and build healthy, constructive relationships with the residents living in independent and assisted living settings. The community at-large will be evaluated to accommodate community amenities such as developing ball fields, a dog park, farm-to-table gardens.
